Heidelberg is situated in Baden-Wurttemberg in the south-western part of Germany, on the banks of the river Neckar. Frankfurt is located north of Heidelberg and can be reached in under one hour by car (on the A5 motorway) or by train. The city has a population of 160,000. Therefore, it might not appear often on the target list of international investors seeking exposure to Germany, despite its very stable real estate fundamentals, especially for residential investments.
