New and extended assets
FRANCE RIOM
In September 2024, VERDOT, a bioprocessing company, announced plans to build a new 4,200 sq m (45,200 sq ft) headquarters and manufacturing facility in Riom, France. Construction will begin in Q1 2025 and the building will be operational by early 2026. The move is intended to consolidate existing facilities and increase manufacturing capacity by 150 per cent, while creating 50-75 new local jobs. VERDOT, established in 1950, specialises in purification solutions for the biopharmaceutical industry, serving various organizations involved in drug development and manufacturing.
IRELAND KINSALE
In September 2024, Eli Lilly unveiled an $800 million (€731 million / £621 million) facility expansion in Kinsale, Co. Cork, which began making medicines last year to meet demand for the latest diabetes and obesity treatments. Lilly Kinsale is home to a 50-hectare (123-acre) manufacturing campus where the worldwide supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients for many of Lilly’s medicines is made. The campus is situated about 33 kilometres (20 miles) west of Cork city in a countryside location between Kinsale and Innishannon. The campus accommodates chemical synthesis, biotechnology and continuous manufacturing technologies.
SWEDEN GOTHENBURG
In September 2024, Thermo Fisher Scientific's PPD clinical research business announced the expansion of its global laboratory services with a new bioanalytical lab in GoCo Health Innovation City, Gothenburg, Sweden. The 29,000 sq ft (2,690 sq m) lab will be located near AstraZeneca's strategic R&D site and will serve pharmaceutical and biotech customers across all phases of drug development. PPD also operates GMP labs in Athlone, Ireland, Brussels, and other locations outside Europe.
