Phase two of Life Science Building taken over
Oslo University and Oslo University Hospital have taken over fields 7 and 8, the second phase of the Life Science Building, handed over by state developer Statsbygg on 29 June 2026.
The building is located at the heart of Oslo Science City, Norway’s first innovation district, home to the country’s highest concentration of research and knowledge institutions.
The building totals 97,500 sq m, split roughly 70/30 between the university and the hospital under a lease signed with Statsbygg in February 2026, with construction delivered on a design-and-build basis by building contractor HENT and architects Ratio and Hille Melbye at a cost ceiling of NOK 13.6 billion.
The hospital’s main activities are in the third stage to be ready in December this year, while an automated biobank store and antimicrobial-resistance research facilities are starting up in autumn 2026.
Snowsfields Quarter wins consent for 360,000 sq ft London Bridge scheme
Snowsfields Quarter has been granted full planning permission by Southwark Council, marking a major milestone for the scheme in London's Health and Life Sciences Innovation District, next to Guy's Hospital and King's College London.
The development will deliver over 360,000 sq ft of multi-functional space, including 245,000 sq ft of specialist laboratory facilities, alongside new community space and greener streets.
Once complete, it is expected to support 890 long-term jobs.
The scheme is being delivered in partnership with Guy's & St Thomas' Foundation and Oxford Properties Group.
